ABOUT

Built for the
first thirty minutes.

Halt Strategy is a research platform for U.S. equity trading halts. It exists because the tools that tell you a stock stopped trading rarely tell you anything useful about why, or what happened the last thousand times a similar halt occurred.

Who publishes this

Halt Strategy is published by Halt Strategy, an independent software project founded in 2026. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of NASDAQ, NYSE, FINRA, the SEC, or any broker-dealer.

You can reach us at hello@haltstrategy.com. Corrections to the halt code reference are genuinely welcome — see the editorial policy for how we handle them.

Where the product actually is

Being direct about this, because it matters more than any marketing copy: the platform is in early development. The interface on the home page is a working prototype running on sample data, clearly labelled as such. The live NASDAQ and NYSE feed is not connected yet.

What is real today is the reference layer — a documented explanation of all 15 halt codes a U.S. trader encounters, written against the exchanges' own published sources. That is the foundation the rest is built on.

What we are building

  • Monitor. A feed of active and recently resumed halts, filtered for the symbols day traders actually watch, with the halt code and its meaning attached rather than left as a bare acronym.
  • Replay. The price, volume, float, and catalyst context around a halt, so the setup can be studied after the fact instead of remembered badly.
  • Backtest. Outcomes across historical halt events, segmented by halt code. A T12 and a LULD pause have almost nothing in common, and averaging them into one number hides exactly the risk that matters.

What this is not

Halt Strategy is research software. It does not execute trades, hold funds, or route orders. It is not a broker-dealer, not a registered investment adviser, and nothing it publishes is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.

Halt data and procedures come from the exchanges and regulators, not from us. We explain them; we do not set them, and we cannot guarantee that any halt will resolve the way historical patterns suggest. See the full disclaimer.
