How we decide
what to publish.

Halt mechanics are operational facts, not opinions. This page states where our reference content comes from, how often it is checked, and what happens when we get something wrong.

Sourcing

Every halt code in the reference is written against the halt and resume reason codes published by the exchanges themselves, and against the SEC for trading suspensions. We do not source halt definitions from other trading blogs, forums, or aggregators.

The primary sources, linked on every glossary page:

What we hedge, and why

Halt procedures vary by listing venue and change over time. Where a duration or reopening procedure genuinely varies, the reference says so rather than quoting a single confident number. A five-minute LULD pause is a rule; “news halts last 30 minutes” is a folk belief, and we do not publish it as fact.

Where we describe what a code implies for a trader, that is framed as interpretation, in a clearly separated section, not presented as an exchange rule.

Review cadence

  • All 15 halt code pages were last checked against their primary sources on September 1, 2026. The review date is shown on every page.
  • Content is re-checked when an exchange publishes a rule change affecting halts, and on a periodic sweep regardless.
  • The review date is bumped only when the content is actually re-verified — never as a side effect of unrelated code changes, because a freshness signal that does not mean anything is worse than none.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us at hello@haltstrategy.com. Substantive corrections are made to the page and the review date is updated. We would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong in front of someone sizing a position.

AI disclosure

Drafting tools are used in producing this site, as they are in most software work. They are not used to generate reference content that ships unchecked: every halt code entry is verified against the primary sources above before publication. We do not publish high-volume generated articles, and we do not publish statistics we cannot substantiate.

Commercial disclosure

Halt Strategy is an independent product. The reference content carries no paid placements, affiliate links, or sponsored entries, and no third party pays to be described a particular way. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed here and on the affected pages before it takes effect.

The reference exists partly to demonstrate the product, which is a commercial motive we would rather state than pretend away. It does not change what the sources say. Read the disclaimer.
