T2Halt — News Released

Reviewed against exchange sources ·Published by Halt Strategy·Editorial policy

T2 is the second stage of a news halt. The headline is out; the market is being given time to read it before quoting restarts. For a trader, the information asymmetry of a T1 has collapsed — the catalyst is now public and can be evaluated before the reopening auction prices it.

What triggers it

  • Material news previously flagged under a T1 halt has been publicly disseminated.
  • The exchange holds trading through the dissemination window so participants can process the release.

How long it lasts

Short relative to the T1 stage — the dissemination window rather than the wait for news. It ends when the exchange begins the reopening process.

How it resumes

Quoting resumes, then trading reopens through an auction on the primary listing exchange.

What it means for a day trader

T2 is the window in which the actual work happens: read the release, size the catalyst, and decide before the auction prints.

The gap between a T2 appearing and the resume print is short. Preparation before the halt matters more than reaction speed during it.
